We, the Jaffer Group, consider the society and the communities we operate in as our valued stakeholders and take responsibility for the impact of those activities on all our stakeholders as well as the environment. We are also fully conscious of our social responsibilities. Corporate Social Responsibility is a full fledged corporate function looked after directly by a member of the Board of Directors.
Below are some of the causes that Jaffer Group is actively sponsoring and involved in for the good of our communities.
Like other cities of Pakistan, the healthcare facilities in Karachi, despite being the largest city, are inadequate. The government hospitals cannot cater to such a large populace and the facilities offered by the private sector are unaffordable for a sizable portion of the population.
The Jaffer Group and family believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right and should be available to anyone and everyone, either affordable or free of cost. With this belief, the Jaffer Family in 1985, ventured into setting up the Murshid Hospital and Health Care Centre (MH&HCC) in the Moach Goth area, off Hub River Road. The hospital caters to the residents of Sindh and Baluchistan, especially the low-income areas, such as Baldia Town, Duad Goth, Musharraf Colony, Ittehad Town, Javed Bahria, S.I.T.E. Town, and Lasbella District. It is the only private secondary care hospital of its kind, addressing the healthcare needs of the surrounding underprivileged, rural and urban strata that virtually have no access to any other medical facility.
Murshid is a not-for-profit organization and is managed by the revenue it generates in addition to the help and support it receives from the Jaffer Family and other individuals and organizations in the form of zakat and donations. The hospital's facilities are inline with medical standards and services include OPD, General and Private Wards, Intensive Care Units, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Operating Theatres, Radiology, Ultrasound, Blood Bank and 24 hours open Laboratory, Pharmacy and Accident & Emergency wing with surgical facility. At Murshid, no patient is turned away or asked to pay for the services if they are unable to do so, medical care is provided at subsidized rates or through its Patient Welfare Association.
The Kidney Centre is a not-for-profit specialized hospital providing quality care to patients suffering from kidney disease. The Kidney Centre opened its door to the public in 1985 with a small dialysis unit consisting of just two machines. Today, it provides comprehensive quality renal care to patients suffering from kidney and bladder problems. It has 100 in-patient beds, four operating theatres, an intensive care unit (with ventilators) for both adults and paediatrics, and a full range of Urological, Nephrological and transplant services.
The Jaffer Family has been actively involved in The Kidney Centre since before its inception. Volunteers on behalf of the Jaffer Group conduct fundraising activities for the hospital across the country as well donate their time sitting on the board.
The Citizens Foundation is a professionally managed, non-profit organization set up in 1995 by a group of citizens who wanted to bring about positive social change through education. 22 years later, TCF is now one of Pakistan's leading organizations in the field of education for the less privileged. TCF embeds its purpose-built schools in the heart of urban slums and rural communities. Their education programme is designed to deliver superior learning outcomes and create opportunity to improve quality of life for these children. Jaffer Group is also involved in organizing fund raising activities and help find volunteers who could sponsors the students to get quality education.

It also shares the responsibility of creating awareness among the potential donors from local corporate sector and abroad. The young women and men can now have a career and hope for a better life.
CHAL Foundation registered in 2008, is the outcome of Chal network anchored in Murshid Hospital and Health Care Centre, Karachi as a result of October 05, 2008 earthquake. The aim of this foundation is to bring together the existing professionally managed rehabilitation institutions and professionals in Pakistan and abroad to network and offer the deprived physically impaired persons in the earthquake hit areas access to the best available rehabilitation services. This will allow them to continue leading close to normal lives and being integrated in the mainstream of their communities.
